Haynes Trip
25th November 2001

It didn't rain! (until we were driving home, at which point it was like
the end of the world was happening!)
A big group of us made it down the A31 to sparkford to the "Haynes
Motor Museum". Mr Haynes, having written all those manuals, now has
one of the largest collections of cars under one roof in the country.
The collection has something for everyone, especially if you like red
cars with prancing horses on!
On the Volvo front, we had 3 850s, 2 V70s and a 740 conversion that you
may have seen in the centre pages of REDLINE magazine recently. The 740,
(pictured left) was truly something to behold, and much respect has to
go to the owner for the work that has gone into it.

Inside the museum, some of the more eye catching motors were a Lambourghini
Countach, a Jaguar XJ220 (modelled superbly by a friends eldest son!)
and an early Deusenburg which still runs on a regular basis. There was
also the more mundane (aka Ford Cortina) as well as the ridiculous (aka
Addams Family mobile).

And finally it wouldn't be a Volvo outing without a couple of tanks,
in this case - quite literally tanks!
